It was an incredible weekend at the Utah Indoor State Championships. All of our hard work in December and January really paid off with great results. In all we had 146 season bests or prs (personal records), 44 Davis All-Time marks, 13 nationally ranked marks (dyestat.com), 4 school records, and 1 Utah indoor state record. It was very impressive to say the least. We also got the double state championship (boys and girls) for the second year in a row. It was a lot of fun, and I was very pleased with your attitudes and your efforts. It is so rewarding to see the improvement that has come for so many of you in just the short 4 weeks of indoor track competition. I don't have time to type up all of the Davis results, but I will post the most current performance list on the blog (www.davisindoortrack.blogspot.com) Full official results can be found at http://www.runnercard.com/runner/data/4534/3771/Result/Results1.htm

Simplot Games - If you are attending the Simplot Games next week, I would ask that you come to the rest of the indoor practices - either during track class or after school. If you are going to miss any of the practices, please let me know. I will be emailing out some final information about Simplot, and I will be handing out a parent waiver that needs to be signed and turned in with the money by next week Tuesday.
Fundraiser - We are on the final week of the discount card fundraiser. I want to thank all of those who have been involved and who are taking it seriously. We are doing well so far, but we are not quite to 1/2 way of our goal. We are going to need to work pretty hard this final week in order to reach the goal of $10,000 raised. I also want to thank parents for allowing their kids to participate and for supporting them. I know it is not an easy time to be asking for money from neighbors and family, and I will not ask the athletes to do this type of fundraising again for many years, but we are in a unique situation this year. We are going to be getting a brand new 8-lane track with a turf field, and we are going to have some additional track expenses that will go with it. It is taking some sacrifice on our part right now, but I really feel it will be worth it in the end. I have asked the kids to be passionate about the fundraiser and to put forth an effort because I believe that effort, passion, and sacrifice will carry forth into the way we treat the upcoming outdoor track season.
Outdoor Track - First official practice will be on Monday, February 27th. Those in the track class will be required to stay after school on B-Days beginning with February 27th.
Keep up the great work. Be proud to be part of the Davis Track & Field program.
Sincerely,
Coach Talley
ps. Please let me know if your parents would like to be added to the email list. The information will also be posted at www.davisindoortrack.blogspot.com.
