Indoor Update - Weber State Invite

Darts -
We had another strong showing at the Weber State Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The results haven't been posted online yet, but there were some phenomenal performances by the Darts. Friday night started with a monster throw in the shot put by Tony Hill. He had a 3 foot pr of 56'08 to win the meet. It gives Tony our 2nd best indoor throw ever, and will be a nationally ranked mark. Conrad Daley also had a big pr to win the high jump in 6'02, ranking him among the top 5 in the state. The first race on Saturday was the 55 hurdles where Brooke Jensen set another state record by running 8.13. Brooke now has the top time ever by a Utahn in the 55 hurdles and the 60 hurdles. She came back with a 2nd place finish in the 55 dash running 7.45 (Davis #2 all-time). Ryan Avery finished 2nd in the 55 dash with a pr of 6.56 (Davis #2 All-Time). Candace Eddy won the 3200m in a time of 11:19. Dani Figgins ran 61.97 in the 400 to finish 3rd (Davis #6 All Time). Both the girls and the boys teams had some solid performances in the 200m. I haven't seen the times yet, but Benson Richards and Jon Ferguson finished in the top 4, and Dani Figgins, Chelsea Jackson, Sylvia Harrison, and Rachel Jackson all finished among the top runners. In the 1600, Katie Swanson finished 2nd in 5:28, and Meghan Hedquist was 4th in 5:31. Seth Gutzwiller ran another pr of 4:30 to finish 2nd in the boys 1600m. We also dominated the relays with a 1st place finish in the girls 4 x 400 (Rachel, Missy, Brooke, and Chelsea) and 1st in the 4 x 800 (Katie, Brittany, Talya, Jessie). And a 1st place finish in the boys 4 x 800 (Leland, Logan, Seth, and Devin). There were many other prs and gutsy performances which will all eventually be updated on the blog (www.davisindoortrack.blogspot.com). As well as pictures of the last 3 meets. Full results will eventually be posted on Weber State's track web page.

Track Class: Make sure to have your clothes and be ready to work out during 8th period on Mon-Wed-Fri. Those not in the track class will meet on B-days on the indoor track.

*There will NOT be a meet next Saturday (31st). The Kearns Invite has been canceled.

Indoor State Championships will be held at the Olympic Oval in Kearns on February 6-7.

Seniors - Remember the meeting about hoodies in my classroom (2512) Monday at 3:00 (after track class workouts).

We have had a great start to the 2009 seasons, but I have seen the commitment level of some of you begin to slip. Make an effort to work a little harder over the next few weeks. It will pay off as we get to the outdoor season. We talked in the track class this week about our goal of getting 2 state championships in May. We have a lot of work to do to prepare us for that, and there are some other teams who will be doing all they can to get in our way.

Thank you for what you each contribute to the program,
Coach Talley
